 Yenagoa – About 1,500 people drawn from five communities in Yenagoa Local Government Area of Bayelsa State are to benefit from a community economic development project, known as the Enhanced Livelihood and Good Governance (ELGGIND), initiated by Niger Delta Professionals for Development (NIDPRODEV).
The programme which is being packaged by the Warri based NIDPRODEV in collaboration with the Oxfam Novib, Netherlands, is geared towards strengthening communities’ livelihood sources and improving oil revenue transparency.
The group yesterday in Yenagoa inaugurated a seven-man committee that would serve as liaison officers between it and the five Bayelsa communities of Okolobiri, Ayama, Zarama, Akabiri and Okutukutu, all in Yenagoa council area.
The executive director of NIPRODEV, Mr. Joel Bisina said on the occasion that the project was designed to strengthen the existing means of livelihood in ten selected communities, five each from Delta and Bayelsa states.
