UGHELLI—LEADER of Patani Local Government Area Legislative Arm, Mr Ekpor Ebimobowei, has charged local government council chairmen in the country to embark on projects that would positively transform the socio-economic lives of their people. He also urged them to work in harmony with their council’s legislative arm.
Ebimobowei who gave the charge while fielding questions from newsmen in Ughelli, Delta State, said the local government area as the third tier of government should render quality services to the people at the grassroot to justify their existence. On their recent face-off with their council chairman, Mrs Josephine Abeki, he said they had withdrawn their impeachment notice against her, adding “it was an internal problem and political leaders of Patani council waded into the matter and we have resolved it.
“We have also realized that we will achieve more for our people when we work together. And I want to advice the executive arm to carry the legislative arm along in the day to day activity of the council. There should be transparency in the government,” he said.
We expect the council chairman to always render the income and expenditure account of the council to the legislative arm,†he added.
