By Festus Ahon
UGHELLI—AGGRIEVED Isoko youths, yesterday sacked workers of Wokson Nigeria Limited, the construction firm handling section ‘A’ of the Ughelli-Asaba Road dualization, hijacking a pay loader caterpillar and Toyota Hilux van belonging to the company.

The youths, who stormed the Oleh premises of the company, vandalized six offices of the company in the yard and carted away a laptop computer, handsets, two digital cameras and a wallet containing an undisclosed sum of money.

The youths numbering over 50,  Vanguard gathered, stormed the yard with seven vehicles in protest over their alleged exclusion in the scheme of things by the management of the firm.

It was gathered that the action of the youths may have been caused by the decision of the company to stop the alleged illegal imposition of levies on trucks operating with the firm.

The levy according to a staff of the company,  ranged from N1,000 to N1,500 per truck.

Site accountant of the company, Mr. Godwin Anagaba, who spoke with newsmen said the aggrieved youths arrived the company’s premises at about 8.30 am in about 7 vehicles, adding the youths looted the company’s property and manhandled some of the workers.

He said, “when our security man on guard asked them the reason for their action, one of them who claimed to be secretary of the Isoko youths,  told him that their anger was infuriated by the refusal of the company to honour a letter they earlier sent to the company.”

Special Project Director, Ughelli_Asaba Road Dualization Project in charge of the section, Mr. Sunny Onuesoke berated the youths for their action. He  said the Delta State government will not tolerate any form of youth violence in any part of the state.
