UGHELLIâ€”PRESIDENT of the Ijaw National Congress, INC, Dr. A. Obianime, has charged ethnic groups in Nigeria to live in harmony with one another so as to enthrone sustainable peace in the country.
Obianime who spoke whenÂ INC paid a courtesy visit on the President-General of Ohaneze Ndigbo, Amabassador Ralph Uwechue, said the visit was to fraternize and establish a relationship that would provide a platform for the ethnic groups to speak with one voice.
He said the visit was part of efforts to foster unity amongst the various ethnic groups in Nigeria, adding that it was important that ethnic nationalities, who are the building blocks of the country come together with a view to building good friendship and unity.
The INC president said that such relationship will reduce political tension and create better understanding and stability amongÂ the ethnic groups, so that they would go about their businesses in any part of the country, without fear.
In his remarks, Ambassador Uwechue said the initiative for fraternal relationship by the INC was a welcome development.
According to him, the visit provided an opportunity for fruitful interaction and exchange of views on issues of mutual interest to both groups in the South East and South South geopolitical zones.
