Cross River state Governor, Senator Liyel Imoke has urged the Super Eagles to imbibe the Nigerian spirit of never say die as they go out against Argentina in todayâ€™s Group B opening game of the on_going FIFA World Cup in South Africa.
Imoke said in a message to the team that they should not be intimidated with the rich credentials of their adversarry who boasts of such world class stars as Lionel Messi who is the reigning world player of the year, Carlos Tevez of Manchester City, SergioÂ Aguero of Atletico Madrid and Diego Milito of Inter Milan.
â€œThe Nigerian man is born to fight. The Nigerian man doesnâ€™t get intimidated. I am sure the Super Eagles will imbibe the Nigerian spirit and fight Argentina for every ball that will be played this afternoon. They should not fear the Argentines because it is a game for men and the brave_heartedâ€™,said the Governor in his solidarity message to the Eagles.
Governor Imoke wants the Eagles to know there are 150 million Nigerians rooting and praying for them.
â€˜The Eagles should go into todayâ€™s game believing the wishes and prayers of 150 million Nigerians are solidly behind them.Our dear president, Goodluck Jonathan will also be at the Ellis Park stadium in Johannesburg to give the Eagles all the luck they will need to ensure they get the result that will make Nigerians happy at the end of the matchâ€™.
