Sports Minister, Isa Bio, yesterday saved Nigeria from further embarrassment when he arranged with Arik Air to go to London and ferry the stranded members of the Super Eagles delegation to South Africa. And the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) quickly sent words to thank him.
The plane they earlier chartered to fly the Super Eagles from England to South Africa for the World Cup could not do the job because of technical problem.
The Federation hired an England-based airline Luiz. They found that more economical than hiring a plane from Nigeria.
When Bio learnt of the team’s dilemma in London, he arranged with Arik Air to send a plane from Nigeria, which was expected to fly the players from Terminal four of Heathrow Airport to Durban, South Africa at 10 pm yesterday. Bio wanted an aircraft that would have Nigerian colours.
