UGHELLI—Former Acting Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Mr Pius Ewherido, has charged Nigerians, particularly the people of Niger Delta to support the administration of President Goodluck Jonathan, to develop the country.
He expressed hope that President Jonathan will address the problem of under-development of the oil rich region. According to him, the problem of the region can only be addressed under a peaceful atmosphere.
Ewherido who spoke to Vanguard, shortly after being honoured with an award as the best legislator in the last two dispensations of democratic governance in Delta State by Mass Communication graduates of the University of Nigeria, in Lagos, Sunday, said President Jonathan willd do well as president, in view of his political antecedents.
Also speaking Mr. Ufuoma Omologe, Media aide to Chief Ewherido, said the group was mainly made up of Delta State indigenes.
Adding that the award was conferred on Ewherido after an intensive research, wide consultations and careful appraisal of the activities of the state legislature between 1999 and 2007.
