Edo commissioner faults contracts

THE Commission of Enquiry set up to investigate the tenure of Chief Johnson Emesealu as Chairman of Akoko Edo Local Government Council of Edo State, has faulted some of the contracts awarded by the chairman.

While presenting its report, yesterday, Chairman of the Commission, Justice Momodu Raje (rtd) said “almost all the projects were done in a very shoddy manner, well below expectation, and not in accordance with the bill of engineering, maintenance and evaluation.”

Justice Raje who however said Chief Emasealu did not attend the sitting to defend himself nor was he represented in spite of the formal invitation extended to him narrated that, “let me start will the grader. There is a grader at the Council that was supposed to have been repaired for N2.8 million.

That grader never worked for one day but the Council decided for reasons best known to them to hire a grader at the rate of N95,000 per day to grade some roads in Ibillo.
