By Tony Nyong
A District Pastor with THE Apostolic Church in Uyo the Akwa Ibom  State Capital got drowned with four others as a result of suffocation when a soak-away located in his newly completed building suddenly collapsed while they were carrying out some plumbing work within the premises.

The three other men who lost their lives along with the Pastor Vanguard gathered were invited to drain the soak-away that was yet to be fully covered of the rain water, following the heavy that came down on the metropolis before the unfortunate incidence.

The 49 year old Pastor, names withheld was hale and hearty a few minutes before the incidence that has thrown the entire church into a serious confusion.

Eye witnesses account of the incident told Vanguard that the deceased Pastor had earlier employed the services of the three plumbers now late to who used a generator to pump the rain water out of the soak-away pit.

Instead of positioning the generator outside the soak-away, the plumbers it was gathered lowered the generator into the soak-away pit and put it on and that the generator instead of piping the water out started emitting heavy carbon monoxide which eventually led to the suffocation of the four.

The Pastor was to fall a victim of the plumbers’ blunder when the late Pastor who was on his way to his new station with his house hold luggage loaded in the car decided to stop by the house to see the extent of work before he discovered that the four were trapped in the pit gasping for air.

The Pastor it was further discovered made for his room in the three months old house, picked his Bible and got inside the pit to pray for the suffocating plumbers apparently assuming there must have been some spiritual attack and ended up dieing with them.

Efforts to revive the five failed when sympathizers who thronged the streets on hearing the tragic incidence attempted to rescue the trapped victims and their bodies were later deposited in the University of Uyo Teaching Hospital after they were confirmed dead.

The where about of the members of the plumbers’ families could not be located but when Vanguard got the house of the late Pastor, all the five members of his family and been moved out and they not be reached on phone
