Yenagoa â€” THE Bayelsa State House of Assembly has listed 10 impeachable offences against the estranged deputy governor of Bayelsa State, Peremobowei Ebebi among which include alleged dereliction of duty.
The allegations were contained in the impeachment notice signed by 17 of the 24 member People’s Democratic Party controlled House served on the deputy governor, Tuesday.
The 17 lawmakers moving for the impeachment of the deputy governor accused him of absenting himself from the weekly executive council meeting since January 2010 and state functions without lawful excuse since February 2010 as well as abandonment of office and official residence since February 2010.
He was also alleged to have applied for and received N29,606, 900 for medical treatment in Germany but converted the sum as he neither travelled nor refund the money to the state treasury.
The House also cited the deputy governorâ€™s interview declaring to the entire world that he can no longer work with the governor and adding that this statement was a clear expression of insubordination and unwillingness on the of his part (Ebebi) to harmoniously work with the governor.
The deputy governor, the House further alleged, portrayed and ridiculed the Bayelsa State House of Assembly by portraying it as an idle Assembly that sits occasionally only when they have money.
The impeachment notice was signed by Messrs Nestor Binabo, Obuebite Jonathan, Alfred Egba, Igrubia walaman, James Ayobegha, Benson Konbowei, Fini Angaye, Kuroakegha Dorgu and Fanama Emomotimi.
Others are; Yousou Amalanyo, Chief Victor Sam-Ateki, Ebamua Empere, Kalabo Hawkins, Nadu Karibo, Mrs. Ruby Benjamin, Franklin Otele and Otobo Opusiri.
