2011: IBB kicks off campaign in Enugu

By Dennis Agbo

ENUGU— A group, National Solidarity Association, NSA, supporting Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida, IBB, for 2011 presidential election, has officially commenced campaigns in Enugu State.

The group stated that it is backing the retired General and former Head of State for another round of leadership because successive administrations had only continued to recycle his programmes with little or no success.

The group said it was convinced that only leaders like General Babagibda that had the insight to tackle the present problems facing Nigeria, adding that the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, zoning arrangement between North and South still subsisted in which case it said Babaginda remained the most viable candidate from the North.

On President Jonathan
The group dismissed the insinuation that President Goooduck Jonathan would run for presidency in next year’s election, warning that if Jonathan ran against the PDP understanding, crisis could escalate in the country. It  urged all Nigerians, particularly those in Enugu Sate to support the IBB quest, saying  “itwill lead to a better Nigeria.”

Rising from its inaugural meeting in Enugu, yesterday, state Coordinator of NSA, Engr. Ralph Madu, said the PDP like-minds gathered to inform Enugu people the direction Nigeria was going, emphasising that they want the “genius” to come back as President.

Madu said: “People will vote for IBB because if you compare him to those that have ruled after him you, will see he is a real genius. Remember his programmes like the SAP, NDE, MAMSER, among others that they are now baptising with other names. They are all the frameworks of IBB.”

On incumbent President Jonathan, Madu said, “I do not think that Jonathan will run against the wishes of the north. It is only people that are asking him to run. I know that Jonathan is a sincere man and when he sees what are on the ground, he will not put himself in that problem.

“However, if he decides to run, then, I foresee crisis all over. The more reason why every Nigerian should support IBB is for the north to complete the 8 years zoning arrangement.

“After IBB, we shall support whoever comes from the South.

“People should not come in the middle of the road and start singing a different song. They are just trying to destabilise the country.”
