2011: Group canvasses support for Akala

By Wale Akinola
A group, Otunba Alao Akala Solidarity Integrity Supporters, OASIS, has said it is targeting millions of voters for the re-election bid of the Governor of Oyo State, Otunba Christopher Alao-Akala ahead 2011 general election. This was stated by the initiator/grand patron of the group, Dr Oladejo Akanni at its inauguration in Ogbomoso which drew coordinators from the 33 local government areas of the state.
Addressing newsmen, Dr Oladejo Akanni, said the group was formed to mobilise support for the governor’s re-election bid because of the transformational programmes the Oyo State chief helmsman had initiated since 2007 which according to him, should run  beyond  2011.

“While we believe Otunba Alao-Akala has done very well since he came in the saddle in Oyo State and that his good works will speak for him at the 2011 polls, we find it imperative to mobilise support for him so that he can return to office to continue the good works,”Akanni stated.

According to him, the OASIS strategy is get each of its members across the state to persuade 10 people to support the governor’s re-election bid who will in turn persuade 100 people until the figures reach  millions.

The OASIS chairman, Prince Bola Al-hazan, described the forum as “non-political, non-religious and made up of inter and intra patriotic admirers of sustained good governance as presently witnessed in Oyo State.”
