NATIONAL leadership of Senior Staff Association of Nigeria Polytechnics, SSANIP, has suspended the Yaba College of Technology, YABATECH, branch executive indefinitely, for alleged â€œaffront, a challenge to its (national) authority and powers.â€
Consequently, it has directed South-West Zonal Coordinator to constitute a care-taker committee to oversee the affairs of the branch until further notice.
At its National Executive Committee, NEC, meeting recently, the leaders of SSANIP, in a six-point resolution, said the management of Yaba College of Technology had been informed accordingly on the resolutions for information and appropriate action.
â€œThe National Executive Committee considers the decision of the branch to pass a â€œvote of no confidenceâ€ on it as an affront, a challenge to its authority and powers.
â€œConsequently, the Branch Executive of Yaba College of Technology is hereby indefinitely suspended from office with immediate effect. The Zonal Coordinator has been mandated to constitute a caretaker committee to oversee the affairs of the branch until further notice.â€
The association also dismissed allegation of gross misconduct levelled at Alhaji Ganiyu A. Akinleye, National President, saying: â€œNEC could not established any act of misconduct against Alhaji Ganiyu A. Akinleye, National President, SSANIP as alleged by the branch, as he was only discharging his responsibility as President and the Presiding Officer of the union during the said GEC meeting.â€
