UNN expels 4 students over protest

Nsukka — The University of Nigeria Nsukka, UNN, has announced the expulsion of four students for allegedly leading a violent protest that resulted in the destruction of property.

Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof. Bartho Okolo, said they were found guilty by an investigative panel set up by the Governing Council to find out causes of the recent students’ riot in the university.

Okolo told newsmen in Nsukka, yesterday, that the panel had submitted its report, adding that part of its recommendations was to expel the four students for allegedly playing major roles.

“You are aware there was students’ riot recently and the Governing Council set up a panel. You are aware that the panel has submitted its report and made recommendations.

“The council only upheld the recommendations and requested that they should be implemented,’’ he said.

It was learnt that the students expelled are Kingsley Asogwa, the Student Union Government Senate President; a student of biochemistry, Samuel Ani; Deputy Clerk of the Senate, Daniel Alagboso and Maxwell Akwuruoha both final year students of Pharmacy.
