Support Orji’s amnesty project, PPA urges Jonathan

Progressive Peoples Alliance, PPA, has said that in view of the high spate of armed banditry and kidnapping in the South-East, it had become necessary for the Federal Government to support the proposed amnesty for kidnappers by Abia State Governor.

PPA, in a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Mr. Ben Onyechere in Umuahia it said, “nobody can pretend about the level of insecurity in the South-East and as such, the amnesty programme is a welcome development which should be supported even by political opponents of PPA.

“We expected that by now, since Governor Theodora Orji made that move, the Federal Government would have taken it up as was done in the South-South, because kidnapping in the South East is an overflow from the South-South.  It is necessary also for President Goodluck Jonathan, who is very determined to get rid of militancy through amnesty to include the South East by using Abia as a case in point. “
