Stop distracting Jonathan, lawmaker warns

By Dennis Agbo

ABAKALIKI — Vice-Chairman, Senate Committee on the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Senator Anthony Agbo, has raised alarm that President Goodluck Jonathan was being distracted by what he described as “senseless and useless political debates” over 2011 presidential election.

He lamented that the situation could lead the President to loss of focus and failure in delivering good governance.

Senator Agbo, therefore, called on President Jonathan to stop the distracting debates on whether or not he should run in 2011.

He argued that none of those who are currently dragging the President into such calculations was patriotic enough to proffer advice or suggestion on how Jonathan could make the best use of the remaining one year of the current tenure.

Though the senator admitted that the hottest issue on the table was electoral reform and constitutional amendments, preceding the 2011, he maintained that the president should not be distracted, saying that the National Assembly was on course to ensure that Nigeria got a solid footing for socio-economic development.
