PORT HARCOURTâ€” POLICE in Rivers State have rescued a former permanent secretary in the state civil service, Chief Solomon Ordu, who was kidnapped in his residence by unknown gunmen last Monday.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Mrs Rita Inoma Abbey, confirmed the development to the Vanguard.
According to her, the police acted on intelligence information to storm where the kidnappers kept the hostage along Elele/Owerri road.
Mrs. Abbey said that during the operation, one of the suspected kidnappers, Samuel Igwe, of Omudiogha community was arrested and had confessed to the crime.
â€œPolicemen from 48 PMF and Elele Division, on information, stormed a forest of criminal hideout along Elele/Owerri road, Ikwerre Local Government Area and rescued Chief Solomon Ordu (a retired permanent secretary) from Omudiogha.
