PDP may sanction Plateau exco

By Taye Obateru

Jos — There were strong indications, yesterday, that the national secretariat of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, might wield the big stick against the Plateau State Chairman of the party, Professor Dakum Shown, and his executive who recently got reprieve from a Jos High Court which voided their dissolution by the party’s National Working Committee.

Vanguard gathered that the Shown-led executive might be invited to Abuja this week to defend allegations of insubordination and anti-party activities against them for insisting on the court option without allegedly exploring necessary internal machineries for resolving the matter as prescribed by the party’s Constitution.

Although the Chief Habu King Shuluwa-led Caretaker Committee declared illegal by Justice Mohammed Sirajo who presided over the case has appealed the judgement, the national secretariat of the party was said not to have taken any action against Shown and his group because of their pending court case.

A source said suspension from the party might be slammed on them unless they satisfactorily defend their actions before national officials of the party.

Meanwhile, the Plateau State PDP, yesterday, held what it called a reconciliatory meeting to mend fences with the various contending groups within the party in the state.

Although the meeting was well attended, none of the top leaders of the other faction was in attendance.
