Nigerians have been urged to cultivate the habit of using their various gifts to edify the Body of Christ, rather than destroying the Church.
Conducting the mass in commemoration of the golden jubilee of Catholic Church of the Assumption, Falomo, Lagos, Catholic Archbishop of Lagos, Anthony Cardinal Okogie said it is high time Christians created the awareness that their body is the temple of the living God and not an instrument for division.
Quoting from John 15, Okogie charged them to engage themselves in evangelism in order to depopulate the kingdom of darkness, saying; “it is important that we create enough awareness that we are the temple of the Holy Spirit. Evangelism does not come by chance, but an act that was instituted on the Day of Pentecost.”
Continuing he said, “Baptism of Spirit and sacrament for confirmation is a must for all because they bring changes and turning point in our lives as we are expected to live like matured men and women, while we continue to pray for the gifts of the Holy Spirit as we allow God to work in us.”
The cleric noted that Christians should be grateful to God at all times, “this anniversary is geared towards thanksgiving because we owe God thanks. We must be grateful to Him because it makes us to receive from Him and open us to favour. It is not out of place that we set out today to thank Him for continuous guide and protection, so as to play our part in the development of this parish.”
