AWKA — GOVERNOR Peter Obi has again reiterated his readiness to make Anambra a model state by the time he would have completed his second tenure in 2014.
Speaking at the Women Development Centre, Awka, the state capital, while distributing processing equipment for garri, rice and palm oil, worth N30million to 50 women of town’s unions in the state, Obi said he had no choice than to do his best for the people because any society that did not take care of the poor would not be able to protect the rich.
He expressed happiness that Anambra State was participating actively in the World Bank and European Union-assisted development programmes, which he observed, eluded the state before his assumption of office.
He called on the people to always support all that is good for the progress of the state.
Governor Obi, who said that women in the state would benefit optimally in government empowerment programmes this year, commended the women for their support of government activities and urged them not to relent in their prayers for the state.
According to him, the developmental projects in his second tenure would supersede that of his first four years.
He charged the beneficiaries to ensure judicious use of the equipment.
