THE community executives of Oyagbene community hosting the “grangbene deep ‘a’ project” of Nigerian Agip Oil Company Limited has denied alleged militant attack on the project being hosted by Oyangbene and Labulouseigha communities, saying that the project is going on smothly.
Also, JTF sources said no such attack took place as reported because their officers on guard would have repelled them.
In a statement made available to Sunday Vanguard Saturday afternoon by the National President of Ijaw Peoples Congress, Comrade Ekanpou Enewaridideke and Chairman of Oyangbene community, they maintained that there is no disruption of the project as the contracted company BEKS KIMS NIGERIA LIMITED has met all the terms of the MOU signed with the host communities, adding that publication that militants stormed oyangbene is a creation by enemies of progress.
According to them, the “only challenge we have in the community is that of some persons are threatening the lives of the accreditted representatives of the community via texts and the the police are on top of this threat situation”.
The statement therefore called on the Delta state government and the inspector-general of police to investigate the publication in Saturday Vanguard that militants stormed oyangbene so that the authors can be dealt with according to the law to forestall any disruption of the Delta state government’s peace effort in Burutu local government Area.
Though the JTF information Coordinator, Lt. Col. Anthony could not be reached to confirm the allegations, a military source said no such attack took place in the area.
