Lawmaker’s driver commits suicide after sack

By Dayo Johnson
A driver of a Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, lawmakers in the Ondo State House of Assembly and Chairman of the Information Committee, Mr Kele Bolodeoku committed suicide by hanging himself barely 24 hours after he was sacked.

Reason for his action was not immediately known yesterday but sources said the driver hanged himself yesterday in his residence in Oluwanimotele Street, Fanibi Area of Akure metropolis.

Police authorities said the matter was still being investigated and would come out with their finding as soon as they concluded investigations.

Ondo State Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Adeniran Aremu told Vanguard that the deceased hanged himself in his residence.

Simply known as Dayo, the deceased, according to a source, was in company of three other personal aides of the lawmaker with whom he shared the four bedroom flat which was formerly occupied by the lawmaker before he moved to his own house late last year.

The deceased who was in his early twenties hanged himself with a rope tied to the burglary proof of the window of the room.

But dependable sources told Vanguard that the driver was said to have betrayed his boss by leaking some documents to some members of the Assembly who had sympathy for the ousted Speaker and others in the Assembly.

In fact it was gathered that the documents he allegedly leaked to some supporters of the sacked leadership of the Assembly had to do with the list of members that signed the impeachment notice of Mr Taofiq Abdusalam and other leaders of the House.

He was said to have given the documents to one of the staunch supporters of the ousted Speaker following which the members said to have signed the document went to court to swear affidavit that their signatures were forged.

A heated argument ensued when his boss reportedly challenged him of his findings that he gave some of his documents to the opposition group within the Assembly. He was later found to have hanged himself within 24 hours later.

The deceased was said to have played till late Wednesday with his friends before he retired into his room.

But his mates became apprehensive when they did not hear from him in the morning hence they forced the door to his room open and he was found dangling.
