Gov faults claims of NDDC projects in Edo

By Simon Ebegbulem

Benin City-Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State is unhappy at the number of projects executed by the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) in the state, querying the authenticity of the projects.

The Governor told the state’s representative on the Board of the NDDC, Mr. Donald Omorodion and other management staff of the NDDC who visited him in Benin that he was yet to see any meaningful project executed in the state by the Commission contrary to claims by the management of the Commission.

“I was a bit shocked when you mentioned projects that the NDDC has allegedly done. I think it is more of an allegation because I’ve been here now for close to one and a half years and I have travelled round the state. I have not seen the evidence of NDDC in most parts of the state especially in those areas where NDDC presence is supposed to be felt”, the governor said, faulting the quality of some of the NDDC projects.

“Even where I have seen the NDDC-assisted projects, the quality of those projects leaves much to be desired. I invite you to open up investigation to revisit and see for yourself instead of relying on paper documentation to ensure that the projects have been done, and if not, I urge you to investigate and bring those responsible to justice.
