Cross River dedicates first working day to God

Mondays have now been declared a day of fasting and prayer in Cross River State. This was announced during a recently concluded “Cross River Prays” programme. This year’s event, with its theme as “The Rain,” was hosted by the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Cross River Province.

The prayer event, which was facilitated by the church at Hephzibah Government House, Calabar, featured word ministration, praise and worship and testimonies.

Cross River State governor, Senator Liyel Imoke, in his address, lauded the people of the state for their stead-fastness and commitment to governance.

He prayed that God would continue to preserve and keep all the citizens, emphasising that his confidence is fuelled by the fact that God has a reason for choosing him to serve the people, adding that the same God would continue to protect, sustain and provide for him and all Cross River State citizens.

The governor was of the view that “Cross River Prays” is prophetic and that the “rain” of goodness, favour and faithfulness had started to manifest. He therefore urged the people to remain steadfast in their prayers for the development of the state.

Speaking during the exhortation, Mrs. Obioma Liyel-Imoke, the initiator of the programme and wife of the governor, assured the mammoth crowd at the the Cultural Centre, venue of the event, that the time for the “mighty rain” had come. She explained that the aim of the programme is to stabilize the state to meet the needs and aspirations of the people.

Imoke explained that she had a vision where God clearly revealed His plan to her, saying “This year you are going to have a 4-day prayer programme because I want to meet with My children, I want to show them who their God is and take away their shame.” The First Lady who said that God prefers obedience to sacrifice, assured that God is willing to abide and stand by Cross River State to show His glory because Crossriverians have blown their trumpets and as such God would cause the heavy and mighty rain of peace, progress, and prosp-erity to fall upon people of the state.

“God has blessed the land of Cross River State for increase and abundance both to the government and her people, the time of austerity is over, because God’s presence is guaranteed in the state and in the presence of God there is always fullness of joy”.  Pastor Cherry Hill of US, who also spoke at the event said that Cross River State is blessed with the greatest leadership and integrity, worthy of emulation.
