Court adjourns hearing on Ugochukwu’s petition

 By Innocent Anaba

Owerri — The Court of Appeal sitting in Owerri, has adjourned further hearing on the fresh application by Chief Onyema Ugochukwu, the Peoples Democratic Party,  PDP, gubernatorial candidate in the 2007 election in Abia State, to June 7.

Ugochukwu had in 2009 filed a fresh application challenging the election of Governor Theodore Orji.

Chief Livy Uzoukwu, SAN, counsel to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, had written to the court that he had a case at the Supreme Court and would not be able to attend the sitting. Orji’s counsel, Chief Kalu Awa, SAN, told the court “the court processes served on his client were fraught with a lot of anomaly.”
