TheÂ first African indigenous mobile phone maker,Â Anabel Mobile, has thrown itsÂ weight behind the development of sports in Nigeria byÂ partnering withÂ Â Ikoyi Club to organise an open Badminton tournament for school age children and adults.
The tournament, according to the Chief Executive Officer of the smart phone maker, Mr. Nicholas Okoye, who spoke to news men yesterday in LagosÂ to unfold details of the event, is slated forÂ September this year.
The theme ofÂ theÂ tournament ,Â â€œFlex it, say it be itâ€, he said is to encourage the Nigerian youthsÂ to appreciateÂ the value of sports and to promote their interest in information technology. All participantsÂ who qualify for the final rounds, he said,Â willÂ Â leave the tournament with an Anabel product thereby having a feel of the Anabel world.
â€œAnabel Professional series devices are on record as being the first smart phone design to be focused entirely on Africa and the emerging Markets, they have been accredited and approved for sale in Nigeria by theÂ Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), and we believe that to be a testament to the World Class standards that we will continue to meet with our products as well as the regulatory environment we intend to abide byâ€ he said.
