Nigerian-born Togolese and Mancester City FC international football star, Emmanuel Seyi Adebayor, is expected to arrive Lagos today as guest of Lagos governor Babatunde Raji Fashola and his football preparatory school, the BRF Youth Football Academy.
Adebayorâ€™s visit to Nigeria is in fulfillment of his partnership with the BRF academy in which he is expected to source training and technical exchange opportunities for the academy students with various foreign football clubs and institutions and also serve as a mentor and inspiration for soccer youngsters in the academy and other youth clubs. Accordingly, he is expected to train with the academy and give inspiration talks to the players on Wednesday, June 2, at Campos Square, Lagos, after which he will visit the Lagos Youth Correctional Centre at Oregun, also in Lagos, to talk to the housemates.
â€œAdebayor is well celebrated international football star with well known Nigerian roots. He is from a humble background from where he has grown to achieve success in world football. He serves as an example to many young men and women on the possibility of great achievements, ones circumstances notwithstanding,â€ says Yomi Pearse, head of the academy board of trustees.
Administartor of the BRF Academy, Kayode Oderinde, revealed that Adebayor will arrive aboard an Arik Air flight from Ghana haven agreed to cut short his holiday in Miami, USA, to honour the invitation.
Meanwhile parents of the students of the BRF Academy have all thanks governor Babatunde Raji Fashola for the excellent welfare provisions put in place. The academy recently opened bank accounts for each of the members for the payment of their transport and feeding allowances.
