Patani elders kick against representatives

By Emma Amaize

PATANI—CHIEFS and Elders of Patani local government area in Delta State have kicked against their representatives in the House of Representatives and Delta State House of Assembly, accusing them of non-performance.

At a special meeting at Patani weekend, presided over by Chairman of Patani Chiefs and Elders Forum, Chief Rowland Biu, the forum noted with dismay that the performance of the member representing Patani/Bomadi Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Nicholas Mutu, after three terms in office “is a sad story of failure and without any benefit to the people of Patani and Bomadi local government areas”.
They also noted that the Deputy Speaker of the House of Assembly, Basil Ganagana, who is seeking a fourth tenure, has not attracted any meaningful development to the area and resolved that both he and Mutu should step aside for better persons to occupy the seat.

The forum condemned the alleged fourth term bid of Mutu and expressed its support for the national president of Ijaw Youth Council, IYC, worldwide, Dr. Chris Ekiyor, who is gunning for the House of Representatives on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
