By Emma Arubi
WARRI—THE Director-General of the Nigerian Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, NIPSS, Kuru, Jos, Plateau State, Prof. Aja Akpyru Aja, has commended Delta State governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, for undertaking the construction of the over N25.3 billion Trans-Warri/Ode-Itsekiri bridges and access roads project.

He said it was a very clear case of using the people’s money to develop them and their area.
Prof. Aja made these remarks after a study tour of the project site in company of the Special Project Director, Otimeyin Adams and  participants of the Senior Executive Course, SEC, No. 32, 2010 of the NIPSS, yesterday in Warri.

Prof. Aja Aja said  they were on a fact-finding mission to evaluate how projects inherited were managed by the incumbent government to see whether there was continuity in governance, saying that at the end of the study tour, they would make recommendations to the appropriate quarters to guide future policy decision making in the country.

He stated that availability of funds, coupled with leadership responsibility that is development- oriented, are what develop a community, adding that “these characteristics we have seen in the administration of Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan.”

He said:  “This area was uninhabited and inaccessible before now. This kind of situation is what gives rise to youth restiveness in the region. But now, the area is opened up to land speculation and job creation as we have seen and the difference is clear. There is now peace and job security.”
