AWKA—THE electronics giants, LG Electronics of Korea, has flagged off the construction of a N6 billion technical Academy in Awka, Anambra State for the training of Nigerians in the repairs and servicing of electronics.
The project is being executed in partnership with Anambra State government, which will contribute 30 percent of the total cost of the project, while LG will contribute the rest.
Speaking at the flag off of the project in the state capital yesterday, Governor Peter Obi said the project means so much to Anambra, because it has enormous transformative implications for the state.
According to him, apart from improving the economy of the state, the Academy will create thousands of job opportunities for the people, adding that more international organisations had declared interest to invest in the state because of the prevailing conducive climate.
He said that the project underscores the commitment of the present administration to public private partnership for the development of infrastructure, adding that it was to avoid the undue bureaucracy in the public service that informed the decision to go into partnership with LG Electronics.
