Imo Dep Speaker eyes Reps’ seat

OWERRI—The Deputy Speaker of Imo State House of Assembly, Mr Jonas Okeke, has formally declared his intention to contest for the House of Representatives seat, next year.

Chief Okeke, who currently represents Ihitte Uboma State constituency, wants to go to the National Assembly as the representative of Okigwe South federal constituency, comprising Ihitte Uboma, Obowo and Ehime council areas of Imo State.

The Deputy Speaker made his intention known yesterday,  when he visited traditional rulers in Ehime Mbano Local Government Area for the Easter homage.

He said apart from his leadership qualities and effective representation, he was gunning for the post  because it had been zoned to his local council.
