ABAKALIKI—THE Nigeria Police Force, yesterday came alive to its responsibility by confronting the militants of Ezza, Ezillo communal crisis in Ebonyi State, as police helicopter, reportedly deployed by Inspector General of Police, Ogbonna Onovo, starting surveillance of the battle zone yesterday, with fears that more suspected militants are caught in the war front.
Though the Ebonyi State Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Mr Chris Anyanwu, refused to comment on the police activities yesterday, the police helicopter flew round Abakaliki capital from the Ezillo war front, while the State Commissioner of Police, Mr Dipo Ayeni, together with the OC Mopol went straight to the Abakaliki township stadium, where the helicopter landed to join the Abuja crew back to the war front.
The Police Commissioner, Ayeni, was later seen at the Government House, Abakaliki. He was believed to have gone to brief Governor Martin Elechi on the development.
A retired Assistant Inspector General of Police from Ebonyi State, was spotted in the helicopter, indicating that he may be leading the offensive against the militants in Ezillo.
