By   Emma Amaize

WARRI—RESIDENTS of Effurun in Delta State, yesterday, carried out a protest against the Power Holding Company of Nigeria, PHCN, over epileptic power supply to their area by the company.

Officials of the PHCN who were busy working at the company’s Airport Road, Warri office, were caught unawares by the electricity consumers whose action affected traffic on the road for some hours.

The gate of the company was locked to prevent the protesters from gaining entrance while motorists had to divert to a nearby road, leading to Water Resources road to continue their journey.

They demanded for a new transformer to ensure adequate provision of electricity to them, saying their businesses were being affected by the poor power supply.

Public Relations Manager of PHCN in Warri district, Mr. Emmanuel Ibude who spoke to Vanguard said the manager in charge of the Airport branch of PHCN, Engineer Abiodun addressed the protesting consumers and assured them the company would look into their demands.
