Clark wants PDP reorganised

By  Festus Ahon

UGHELLI—ELDER statesman and National Chairman of Delta State Elders /Leaders and Stakeholders’ Forum, Chief Edwin Clark, has called for the reorganisation of the ruling Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP, and urged Nigerians to continue to support Acting President Goodluck Jonathan.

Clark, who spoke a meeting of the forum, yesterday, in his Kiagbodo country-home, decried a situation where some party officials connived with those in government to loot public funds for personal interest.

He expressed hope that a proper convention of the party would be held to remove  ”bad eggs from the party leadership positions,” adding that the party belonged to the people. “The PDP must be reorganised. There was never a congress held in Delta State,” he added.

According to him, Delta State was one of the biggest states in the country, saying that one of the reasons for the meeting was to show Nigerians that it has many leaders.

He said what Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan ought to have done long before now was for him to dissolve his cabinet and share the commissioners, board chairmen and members among the divides in the party in the state.

Urging Nigerians to fight their political battles, Clark berated those who were opposed to the elevation of Dr Goodluck Jonathan as Acting President and prayed for the speedy recovery of ailing President Umaru  Yar’Adua.

Stressing the need for all Nigerians to strive towards the survival of the country, he, said the country cannot be ruled by one individual or group of individuals.

He said: “We believe in the unity, peace and togetherness of Nigeria. For that reason we must continue to pray for the survival of the country.”
