The minister of sports and chairman of the National Sports Commission Honourable Ibrahim Isa Bio yesterday promised to ensure that Anti Doping Laboratory at the National Stadium, Abuja is functioning soon.
Bio who visited the stadium yesterday accompanied by NSC staff and the director general Patrick Ekeji promised that all the equipment needed to make the dope center is functional will be purchased and that the personnel and expertise needed to make work will be employed.
Ekeji informed the minister that the laboratory needs injection of fund to make it functional. As at today the laboratory need a generator and other equipment to make it work.
The laboratory according Ekeji told the minister is the first of it kind in West Africa and he assured the minister is the place is operational, it will pay for itself as all the doping test at all major championship in Nigeria that are presently conducted out Nigeria will be done at the laboratory.
Raphael Odi a staff of the department informed the minister that they have been trained on how to use the equipment in Malaysia, that the are just for the equipments to be complete and a generator.
Bio expressed surprise that there is still no water at the stadium despite approving money for the payment of debt owned the water corporation.
