Youth group lambasts MEND over Warri bomb blast

Forceful Youths, a Niger Delta pressure group, has lambasted the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta, MEND, for the bomb explosion which rocked  Government House Annexe, Warri, Delta State, venue of the Post-Amnesty Dialogue midwifed by Vanguard Newspapers.  The indictment was contained in a release signed by the President,  Oritsewinor Olu, and others, and  made available to newsmen yesterday.

The youths wondered what MEND stood to gain from the latest onslaught on all that was reasonable and civilised, noting that were it not for newspapers like Vanguard, the militants’ struggle and the predicament of the Niger Delta would not have recorded any measure of success.

The group gave kudos to the Niger Delta governors who had gathered for the much-publicised conference, encouraging the newspaper not to be deterred by the unfortunate incident, but regard it as one of the prices to be paid for being the champion of good governance and the rule of law.

The group called for calm and urged the federal government to speedily do something to integrate the militants into the society and develop the Niger Delta urgently to avoid such avoidable cases of violence.
