…says utterances obstructing Jonathan

ABUJA— DISTURBED by what he described as destabilizing remarks, National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Prince Vincent Ogbulafor yesterday warned the Minister of Information and Communications, Professor Dora Akunyili, Ohaneze, Arewa Consultative forum, others to either know what to say or shut up.
Ogbulafor who also warned socio-cultural groups like Northern Union, politicians, public office holders, and the clergy to rise above petty politics, stressed that their actions and utterances were affecting the smooth functioning of Acting President, Goodluck Jonathan.
In a statement yesterday by the PDP National Publicity Secretary, Professor Rufai Ahmed Alkali, Ogbulafor who noted that the socio-cultural groups ordinarily should be custodians of our cultural values, said they have suddenly abandoned their traditional roles and delve into politics.
The statement read in part: “the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has observed with dismay the preponderance of potentially divisive and destabilizing statements by socio-cultural groups, politicians and even senior government officials over issues surrounding the smooth functioning of the Government of Nigeria led by the Acting President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, GCON.
“We expect that by now, questions on where the buck stops as far as the running of government is concerned would have been put to rest. We therefore, find constant reference to purported power “cliques†or “cabals†especially by responsible public officials as unhelpful in our determination to create a conducive atmosphere for the smooth operations of government.
