CALABAR—Students of the Federal Government Girls College in Calabar, Cross River State, have called on the relevant authorities to rebuild the 36 buildings that were destroyed by windstorm in the school.
Among the buildings affected were the dormitories, administrative blocks, staff quarters, laboratories, school hall and perimeter fence of the school.
Some of the students who were seen at the premises, described the experience of the windstorm as frightening, as it swept through the compound, lifting roofs, destroying buildings and leaving parts of the compound bare.
They said that they ran everywhere in confusion, as their dormitory’s roof was blown off by the wind.
The students expressed fears that if a second windstorm of that nature occurred, no building would be left standing.
