Utuama tasks LG bosses, deputies on cooperation

By Austin Ogwuda
ASABA—DELTA State Deputy Governor, Prof. Amos Utuama (SAN), has enjoined council chairmen in the state to always carry their deputies along, citing the harmonious relationship that existed between him and the governor in steering the ship of the state as example worthy of emulation.

Utuama gave the advice in Asaba yesterday while addressing the Forum of Vice Chairmen in the state who paid him a solidarity visit.

He said:   “The governor has always taken his annual leave and I act with full powers. Everybody should be engaged in order to move our democracy forward there is a lot of work to be done and no individual can do it alone.”

Earlier, the leader of the Forum, Mr. Emmanuel Udorah, who is also the Vice Chairman of Oshimili South local government council, said they were in his office to throw their weight behind the second tenure of Governor Uduaghan to continue along with him (Utuama), noting that “they have piloted the affairs of government with the fear of God”.

Udorah, however, told the deputy governor that contrary to the cordial relationship existing between him and the governor,  it was sad that in most of the local government areas in the state, the vice chairmen were without functions.
