UBA pledges to support Edo state government economic programmes

GROUP Managing Director designate of the United Bank for Africa [UBA] Plc Mr. Philips Oduaza yesterday in Benin declared the preparedness of the bank to provide funds to the Edo State Government to enable it realize its developmental programmes. Mr. Oduaza who disclosed this when he led management team of the bank to pay courtesy visit on Comrade Governor Adams Oshiomhole, said the UBA was very pleased with the developmental strides of the state government.

He also disclosed that the bank would provide support for the state government by funding its agricultural projects, saying that the state government should take advantage of the bank’s interest rate on agricultural funding which is 9 percent.

Insisting that the security of bank staff was key to management of the bank, the Group Managing Director designate promised to support the state government in strengthening security in the state.

He maintained that the bank has had a good relationship with Edo State Government since Governor Oshiomhole took over and stressed that their visit was to enable the bank strengthen the relationship.

Mr. Oduaza told the gvoernor that the bank with over 800 branches globally, 700 of which are located in 16 countries in Africa, has over 30 of the branches in Edo State with 17 of the branches in Benin City.

Responding, Comrade Governor Adams Oshiomhole said his administration was working out some initiatives to grow small-scale businesses in the state and announced that the state government would collaborate with the bank in that regard, including the area of funding agricultural sector to create jobs.

He assured management of the bank that the state government would continue to deepening its relationship with the bank.
