Executive Director, Ondo State Football Agency, Mike Idoko, has warned the Globacom Premier League contenders that Sunshine Stars of Akure are poised to snatch the trophy this season after a deserved 1-0 victory over Kwara United of Ilorin at the Akure Stadium on Sunday.

He said the league is still open to all the top teams including Enyimba International FC, Kano Pillars and Kwara United.

After the tension-soaked encounter on Sunday, the former Lobi Stars boss heaved a sigh of relief, saying the next away match against Zamfara will be decisive.

“The League is still open,” Idoko said. “We have tried our best to remain in contention and we won’t relent until we achieve our dream. Our mission really is to book a continental ticket this year but the way we are going we may likely have a bonus of winning the league.”

Idoko disagrees with the erroneous belief that the standard of the league has fallen drastically, saying people with such negative impression are ignorant of what the league used to be.
