STAR Fame land welcomes 36 wannabees

The search for a veritable musical band as annually bequeathed to Nigeria by Star Quest, the Star lager-sponsored musical talent hunt show, begins on Sunday, March 14.

And for the 36 youths who were ushered into the Star Fameland last Saturday, March 6, the next 21 days would be the most challenging of their budding career.

In the tradition of the Star Quest, the 36 youths would form six different bands that must dig into the depth of their artistry to convince discerning music-loving Nigerians that they deserved to win the ultimate prize; a mini-van, N3.6million cash prize, N7.5million recording contract and a well-appointed accommodation in a choice area of Lagos.

Aside these, the winning band would perform alongside established homegrown and international stars the Star lager-sponsored Star Mega Jam and Star Trek. Like The Pulse, winners of the 2009 edition, which featured Busta Rhymes, renowned American rapper, on one of their songs, the eventual

winner of this edition could also be lucky to get such international recognition early in their career.

However, the major challenge for these youths would be to sift from among the thicket of talents they all embody to be in the right band that would, on Saturday, April 3, join the Star Quest hall of fame which already has substantive occupants like KC Presh, D’Accord, The Jewels, Diamonds and The Pulse.

These lucky contestants were selected from the last 230 chosen from over 12,000 applicants that thronged audition venues in Abuja, Lagos, Benin, Owerri and Calabar while the auditions lasted. Before a live audience that included music enthusiasts and critics and the audition judges last Saturday, the 36 finalists demonstrated appreciable dexterity in vital areas of music like instrumentation and vocals and were thus ushered into the Fameland to have a shot at fame and fortune on the Star Quest platform.
