Probe impeachment signatories in Edo House’

AMID the controversy triggered by the impeachment of Speaker of Edo State House of Assembly, Hon. Zakawanu Garuba and his deputy, Hon. Levi Aigbogun, the Senate President, Senator David Mark and Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Dimeji Bankole, among others, have been asked to investigate the 16- member signatories that carried out the action.

Also requested to probe the signatories are the National Security Adviser, the Inspector General of Police and the Director  General of the SSS “because of the dangerous nature this situation is posing to the peace of the Niger Delta.”
Last week, Garuba and Aigbogun were allegedly removed by 13 members of the House loyal to Governor Adams Oshiomole and led by Hon. Bright Omonkhodion who claimed that the impeachment document was signed by 16 members, which represents two thirds of the 24- member parliament.

Making the call for the probe of the 16 signatories, yesterday, the Council Lawmakers in Nigeria, South-South Chapter, said it had attempted to find out the true position of the process of the impeachment “out of interest to preserve the constitution but we have not set our eyes on the impeachment  document or petition by the said 16 members.”
