Police kill 2 suspected robbers in Imo

OWERRI—Two dare devil armed robbers, Justice Nnakwe alias Pabobo and Chijioke Okwara, have been killed, during an exchange of gun fire between the robbers and men of the Crack Squad, Imo State Police Command.

Narrating the success story to journalists in his office, the State Police Commissioner, Mr. Aloysius Okorie, said that although some other members of the gang escaped the police assault, a number of sophisticated weapons were recovered.

Imo police boss said, “at about 1900 hours on March 13, 2010, the gang led by its ringleader, Justice Nnakwe alias Pabobo engaged the police in a serious gun battle, which lasted for a while and at the end, the police triumphed and two members of the gang were killed, including the gang leader, Pabobo, while others escaped with serious bullet wounds.”

According to the CP, “one AK 47 rifle, four magazines, 90 rounds of .9mm ammunition and one single barrel long gun were recovered from the gang. Investigation is still on-going and the Command is closing in on the fleeing suspects.”
Mr. Okorie traced the ugly acts of the gang to last year, adding that on 27 February 2009, the police received a distress call that hoodlums invaded Dimagu community, Ideato South Local Government Area and were attacking the home of one Lawrence Okwara.

Saying that the hoolums robbed Mr. Okwara of N262,000 and other valuables, Okorie recalled that on 18 March 2009, they equally attacked the home of one Edwin Abazie and robbed him of the sum of N45,000 and some valuables.
