Oshiomhole felicitates with Bini monarch

BENIN—Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State has joined the Oba of Benin, His Royal Majesty, Omo N’Oba N’Edo Uku Akpolokpolo, Oba Erediauwa, in rejoicing on the occasion of his 31st coronation anniversary.

The governor, in a letter to the monarch, said:   “This is a worthy occasion for the people of Edo State to celebrate our foremost Royal Father, to rejoice with you and the royal household as well as make supplication to God to grant you the best of health and many more years on the throne of your ancestors.”

On his part, the royal father, in a letter he personally signed, lauded the governor for transforming Benin from an ancient city to a modern one.

According to the Oba, “I write to once more congratulate you on the giant stride in changing the face and fortune of the ancient city of Benin, as well as change perception of the city held by the outside world, through its beautification projects (exercise) in the state, especially the King’s Square axis as well as other major projects such as road constructions and education.”

The Oba, who urged the governor to come up with a holistic plan on the upgrading and celebration of the annual Igue festival, said:   “I have no doubt that the plan would impact positively on the beautification exercise around King’s Square, and make the city one of the major tourist sites in the nation.”

Felicitating with the royal father on the 31st anniversary of the ascension to the throne, Governor Oshiomhole said the state government would continue to value and count on the Oba’s tremendous fatherly goodwill, counsel and support, which flow from a deep-seated and well-demonstrated passion for the peace, progress and development of Edo State.

“Your support has made the difference and has continued to guide our path in our delivery of development.

“As governor of Edo State, I feel specially indebted to Your Royal Majesty and wish to take this opportunity to express my gratitude for your generous support,” Oshiomhole said.
