I have been inundated with calls over the last few hours with people who want to know the truth about a Zamfara United player who collapsed and died after a league match involving Dolphins and Zamfara, wrote China Acheru, Dolphins media officer.

My answer had always been that no such incident occurred at that game  in Port Harcourt.   However to set the records straight I want to say here that a report  on the website of kickoffnigeria says that a Zamfara United player  actually died on Sunday night but it happened in faraway Gusau.

According to kickoff he died in his sleep at the club camp after a  bout of malaria and did not even make the trip to Port Harcourt.  We at Dolphins use this medium to commiserate with Zamfara United on  the death of their player.
