ABUJA—ACTING President, Goodluck Jonathan yesterday charged the Federal Government projects assessment committee to immediately swing into action by carrying out a comprehensive but thorough review of all recently awarded contracts that are considered non-viable, under or overvalued, in order to ascertain the validity of the petitions regarding such projects.
Inaugurating the committee and that of monitoring assignment over the Niger-Delta Development Commission, NDDC, Jonathan said the probing of such projects spread across the country has become very imperative because of the urgent need to move the country forward.
According to the Acting President “the importance of assessing the current state of all the Federal Government projects across the nation so as to provide accurate information on their status has become not only necessary but critical to national developmentâ€.
“We have received reports of abandoned Federal Government projects; petitions of over-valuation and under-valuation and in some cases outright non-performance of some contractors,†Jonathan stated.
He stressed that the “need for a comprehensive inventory of all our on-going projects and their level of funding has therefore become imperativeâ€.
