It’s time for woman president, says Etiaba

New York—Anambra Deputy Governor, Mrs Virgy Etiaba said in New York, yesterday that Nigerians should consider the option of a female president in the next dispensation to overcome the country’s current challenges.

“Nigeria’s presidency needs a motherly touch,” Etiaba told newsmen on the sidelines of the ongoing 54th session of the UN Commission on the Status of Women, CSW.

The 67-year old Deputy Governor said the  consideration of a woman presidency for the country should no longer be delayed.

“God has endowed in women that motherly touch, the ability, that reasoning that keeps people wanting to know and wanting to help,’’ she said.

Etiaba was sworn in as Nigeria’s first female Governor in 2006 after Anambra State legislature impeached Governor Peter Obi for alleged “gross misconduct.’’
