Five suspected pipeline vandals nabbed in Niger

MINNA — Nemesis   has caught up with five suspects who specialised in the vandalisation of petroleum pipelines and siphoning fuel along Bonu and Lambata in Gurara local government area of Niger State.

They were said to have stormed the community with a petroleum tanker with number plate Bauchi XB 329 BAU to siphon the product.

It was gathered that a security man attached to the Bonu Health Centre who noticed the strange movement of the suspects and a tanker in the area alerted the community leader of the village.

The District Head on getting wind of the information was said to have mobilised members of a vigilance group in the area to the site.

However, the suspects were said to have taken to their heels on citing members of the group and abandoned their tanker.

Members of the vigilance group later combed the area and arrested the suspects from their hideouts and with the reinforcement of men of the Nigerian Security Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, from Gawu Babangida village and were taken to Minna, the state capital for further interrogation.
