Edo group tasks FG on ex-militants’ rehabilitation

By Gabriel Enogholase

BENIN—FOLLOWING the recent occupation of Federal Girls Government College, Benin, by ex-militants protesting their exclusion from the post-amnesty programme, the Orhionmwon Youth Vanguard has made a passionate appeal to Governor Adams Oshiomhole to make a representation to the Federal Government on their plights.

The group in a statement in Benin yesterday signed by its Chairman, Mr.Lucky Ijeh, said  the appeal became necessary in view of the violent protest embarked upon by the ex-militants, which he said, almost brought Benin City to its knees.

It said Edo State could not afford another round of protest from the ex-militants at this time of its development and urged the governor to do something very fast about their plights.
It also called on Acting President Goodluck Jonathan to start the immediate implementation of the agreements reached with the ex-militants by the Federal Government, as any delay would be dangerous.

On recent comments made against Chief Tony Anenih by the governor, the group appealed to Comrade Adams Oshiomhole to give respect to him as he had played his part in the development of the state and the country.

It called on the leadership of the State House of Assembly to settle its differences with the members of the PDP in the House amicably in order for them to resume sitting and offer quality representation to their people.

The group also commended Acting President Goodluck Jonathan over the manner he had  piloted the affairs of the country so far.
